The Snowflake Dungeon Part 4

It’s time to start on my second faction. We’re going to go for the victims here – the monks. While they’re not in the dungeon itself, they are an important group! Let’s see what we got here using our new, revised character sheet.

  • Name: The Monks of St. Vaciscous
  • One Sentence Threat: The Monks are poor fighters and their deaths would anger the townsfolk for leagues around.
  • Motivation: To worship in peace at their monastery.
  • Goal: To have someone else deal with this problem that they are ill equipped for.
  • Conflict: The ancient temple of their order is “haunted”. Mutants have been abducting them. The older monks won’t talk about their history.
  • One Paragraph Threat: The Monks are poor fighters and quite fragile. In addition, the two eldest monks have information that they are not sharing of something that happened to the past. They only say that to speak of evil is to invite it to dinner. They refuse to leave the monastery and would rather all die there than to vacate it. Finally, there is a traitor in their midst – Benadrine, one of the junior acolytes, has struck of a bargain with Lugpopple to thwart the Monk’s plans in exchange for eventual power.
  • One Sentence Backstory: Originally inhabitants of the ruined temple, the order split after a disagreement about their faith, leaving a large contingent of the priests to found the Monastery of St. Vaciscous.
  • Resources: The monastery treasury (400gp of riches), room and board, lots of ale and fresh vegetables, magical healing, a very cantankerous mule named “The General”.

Great! I know a lot more about the Monks than I did half an hour ago. There’s more hooks in here and more questions to be answered, but that’s a good thing.

More to come!

Talk soon,

-James
