Snowy Encounters (1d8)
A dwarf pushes through the snow up to her chest. She would pay 20gp for a fire and a hot meal.
The area is crisscrossed with goblin tracks. Oddly, there is a perfectly circular indentation that follows the feet. If the goblins are followed, the PCs come upon 2d6 of them. One of the goblins stands at the top of a long stave, acting as lookout. Another of the goblins uses that stave as a walking stick.
The snow here is melting – and there’s no discernable reason it should be. The grass underneath it is singed. Exploring the area results in the finding of a massive burrough – an Ancient Red Dragon slumbers under the earth.
2d3 Halfling’s have a snowball fight. They are camping nearby. Two more Halflings remain at the camp, keeping watch on the fire. A pot of mulled wine and hot cider steams away.
Two dwarves drive a sled pulled by six Mastiffs. It is packed with meat – they are returning from a hunting expedition. They would be willing to sell up to 10 rations of dried meat at 25% off the standard price.
Four gnomes stand at a fire with spears. Blood Hunter, a large black bear that has terrorized them for years, slumbers in their cave nearby. The gnomes are going to take the opportunity to slay the bear. They have 50gp they can pay to others for help. What they don’t know is that the bear cave is in the domain of a druid and under her protection.
There’s a snowman here. Coal for eyes, button mouth, a fancy hat… No, it’s not magical. It’s just there.
See #4. Those Halflings are on their way to a local pond in the next hex over to go ice fishing. A Mastiff is with them this time. It pulls a sled with supplies, including a small keg of ale. Gotta keep entertained at the fishing hole…
