Blacksmiths (d8)

I’ve been making my way through my backlog of Between Two Cairns episodes in the car lately and something stuck with me. Brad when on a short spiel along the lines of not really needing a blacksmith character in a published town again. I get it – rarely do they matter or add value – […]

Feast Generator

Anyone else feel like they just spent the last month feasting? Like your blood is made up of about 85% cookies? I’ve been getting back into the grind lately – writing, splitting wood, training… and damn, has it not been easy. But hey, that’s what December is for. It’s dark, it’s cold, and it’s the […]

Snow Day Encounters (d8)

Snowy Encounters (1d8) A dwarf pushes through the snow up to her chest. She would pay 20gp for a fire and a hot meal. The area is crisscrossed with goblin tracks. Oddly, there is a perfectly circular indentation that follows the feet. If the goblins are followed, the PCs come upon 2d6 of them. One […]

Nested City Encounter Table

Okay, so this has been my fascination lately for my games – nested encounter tables.   Each entry on the table gets a mini 1d4 table worked into it. While the below table is only a d6, it actually gives me 24 different options, since every entry as four sub options.   I tweaked this […]

What’s in that Disappointing Treasure Chest? (d10)

What’s in that Disappointing Treasure Chest? (1d10) It’s empty. Gotta start with the obvious. Someone’s spare clothes. What do you think chests were used for? Bones. So many bones. How many people have been buried here?

You find a rusty long sword and a small, golden vulture head worth 250 gp.

Red Sand

The sand here on the edge of the sacrificial ground is loose and looks recently churned.

Vulture Priest

The Vulture Priests are the enemy of knowledge and enlightenment. They seek to bring the eternal silence, the end of all things. Decay and obedience is their only god.

Immune to the Divine: The spells and powers of clerics and paladins have no effect on them.
Weapons: They frequently use wickedly curved daggers, which they use for sacrificial purposes.
Soul Clouders: There is a 10% chance that any Vulture Priest can use the sleep spell once per day. The targets are still awake, but they are beset by such a deep depression that it has the same effect as sleep. They may only watch what unfurls around them.
