Blacksmiths (d8)

I’ve been making my way through my backlog of Between Two Cairns episodes in the car lately and something stuck with me. Brad when on a short spiel along the lines of not really needing a blacksmith character in a published town again. I get it – rarely do they matter or add value – they just exist because a town needs a blacksmith.

That said, here’s eight unique Blacksmiths.

  1. Tidbibble Hiddledee – Gnome. Provides the town’s nails, horse shoes, metal hooks, etc. – but no two are the same size or to any type of spec. Will absolutely argue about it if called out.

  2. Talos Boarslaughter – Orc. Was the blacksmith for the local darklord until he killed Talos’ former captain (he was a savage fighter, but they found him more useful making weapons). His weapons aren’t fancy, but they are quite servicabe and he can make them fast.

  3. Halk Darkcoal – Dwarf. Does the standard stuff and does it well. Rarely charges for simple repairs. His real passion is making intricate flowers of out of metal. He rarely shows them off.

  4. Tater – Halfling. Is always eating a treat while working. Carrys a stepstool on his back to do the work. Usually has a sandwhich toasting next to the forge.

  5. B’nistris Yliste – Elf. Adds a flourish to everything they make (swirling lines, engraved flowers, an inset piece of silver…) You pay extra. If you don’t like it, go to the next town over.

  6. Daggers – Human. Yeah, she can make you some nails, but she really enjoys short blades. She always has a slim blade concealed on here somewhere. She can make one like that just for you if you’d like.

  7. Lord Halworth – Goes by Copper and never gives anyone his real name. Has vowed to never forge a weapon again. His last sword was used to kill a king. Horrible customer service but excellent work.

  8. Grizzing Lowfellow – Halfling. Town gossip. Will try and entice you with ale to stick around while she works and trade stories. She always has a bit herself.

Bones. So many bones. How many people have been buried here?

You find a rusty long sword and a small, golden vulture head worth 250 gp.

Red Sand

The sand here on the edge of the sacrificial ground is loose and looks recently churned.

Vulture Priest

The Vulture Priests are the enemy of knowledge and enlightenment. They seek to bring the eternal silence, the end of all things. Decay and obedience is their only god.
