I have been waiting for this moment for months.
When I was moving and overwhelmed with all the projects, I was saddest to see this fall by the wayside.
My snowflake dungeon.
(If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you can find every email I’ve written about it here.)
Today is the day I finally get back to it.
When last we left, I was agonizing over the town in the adventure. How would I set it up? How do players navigate around it? IT HAS TO BE PERFECT AND BESPOKE.
I was left with many questions I couldn’t answer so I just wrote a bunch of notes on what I wanted to be in the town. I couldn’t actually properly key it until I knew how it would be ran.
I gotta say – I’m glad I stepped away from it for a bit. When I cracked open my notes today, I was willing to be much less precious with it.
My dude, it’s the town. It isn’t where the juice of the adventure is. Just chill.
Having given myself permission, I just went ahead and keyed it properly so that it would match the rest of the adventure.
If you’d like to check it out, I have a copy in my google drive here.
Again, this is my first rough draft, so expect mistakes. I’ve added a few things since it’s original form. Of note is the conspiracy table. I sat here and tested it out for a bit and it’s absurd. Roll a d8 for each column and see what Noodles new conspiracy is.
One thing I wrestled with was if the Old Church needed a map. I settled on it being a waste of space. It hardly seems large enough to need a map to navigate. Am I right or wrong? Hit reply and let me know or hit me up in the discord. I’d be willing to change my mind if a lot of folks told me to map it. I just didn’t think the game needed another dungeon.
Aside from a few little things, it really only needs a rumor table and random encounter tables at this point. I think that next, I’ll reread the whole thing and cobble together those rumors.
It feels good to be back in the saddle.
