A Traveler’s Guide to Samsarras: Queen Dicelle

Caelen Dicelle is rather young for an elf. She had barely passed her 100th birthday when she became queen of the Sylvan empire, as she was the eldest heir of her aged father.Currently, she is 121 years old and without suitor or heir of her own.

She is very slender in stature with the long limbs of a dancer. Her hair is the color of summer wheat and catches the sun much the same way. Dicelle’s ears are classically elven, tapering upward to a fine point that only accentuates her jawline. There are not many who do not think her beautiful.

Those who would discount her for her beauty are fools, however. There are not many elves who would do so, as they tend not to subscribe to gender based stereotypes. Those of other species that have been foolish enough to make that mistake have came to regret it, however. While fair and just to the populace, she can be ruthless when need arises.

Having lived a life of royalty, Dicelle speaks always as if stating a fact. Her public persona is that of an official. The queen treats each conversation and interaction as if there is something to be won from it or direction to be given. Those who have known her longer often wonder where the awestruck young girl with wonder filled eyes has gone.

On her coronation, Eimrag the Joyful (One of the Dragons of light the elves worship as gods) presented Dicelle with his son, Nemar. The two have been bonded since. Most take it as a sign that the prosperity of the Sylvan empire is ensured. Rarely will either go anywhere without the other.

Bones. So many bones. How many people have been buried here?

You find a rusty long sword and a small, golden vulture head worth 250 gp.

Red Sand

The sand here on the edge of the sacrificial ground is loose and looks recently churned.

Vulture Priest

The Vulture Priests are the enemy of knowledge and enlightenment. They seek to bring the eternal silence, the end of all things. Decay and obedience is their only god.

Immune to the Divine: The spells and powers of clerics and paladins have no effect on them.
Weapons: They frequently use wickedly curved daggers, which they use for sacrificial purposes.
Soul Clouders: There is a 10% chance that any Vulture Priest can use the sleep spell once per day. The targets are still awake, but they are beset by such a deep depression that it has the same effect as sleep. They may only watch what unfurls around them.
