Welcome to The Fantasy Grind. Set in the old empire of Origos, it is a hex crawl spanning four separate lands. In a sense, it is four separate modules, brought together into one large campaign. 

These lands were once united under a single banner, but time has eroded the power of the throne, and now it is a land of divided peoples fending for themselves. Each of the four quadrants of the realm has its own dangers, happenings, and strangeness:

  • Death Empire takes place in West Athalia, where a dread cloud spreads, raising the dead from their graves.
  • War Orcs brings us to the Warlands, an area that fell to marauders long ago. With the marauders gone, the Orc warbands now fight each other for supremacy, leaving desolation (and loot) in their wake.
  • In the Darklands, a whole kingdom of Dwarves has lost their minds. And they’ve been particularly excitable as of late…
  • Desert Dogs is a delve into a barren wasteland of Gnolls, fighting a holy war against themselves under the unforgiving sun. A large monolith fell through the atmosphere,, and the Gnolls call it “The God that Came to Earth’…

Any of these could be used as its own adventure, or the lands can all be combined into a sprawling campaign. With Fantasy Grind’s use of random generators, there are plenty of encounters and weirdness to travel through, and lots for the PCs and GM to do.

The Fantasy Grind is a 120 page hardcover tome of hex crawl fantasy. It’s accompanied by two 17″x11″ identical maps (in case one is ruined) and a cardstock tracker board for monitoring in-game time.

You find a rusty long sword and a small, golden vulture head worth 250 gp.

Red Sand

The sand here on the edge of the sacrificial ground is loose and looks recently churned.

Vulture Priest

The Vulture Priests are the enemy of knowledge and enlightenment. They seek to bring the eternal silence, the end of all things. Decay and obedience is their only god.

Immune to the Divine: The spells and powers of clerics and paladins have no effect on them.
Weapons: They frequently use wickedly curved daggers, which they use for sacrificial purposes.
Soul Clouders: There is a 10% chance that any Vulture Priest can use the sleep spell once per day. The targets are still awake, but they are beset by such a deep depression that it has the same effect as sleep. They may only watch what unfurls around them.
